FAQ
Q. How do I obtain an Australian Standard (AS)?
Answer
Australian Standards are available via the Techstreet platform. To access the standards you will need to set up a personal Techstreet account the first time you login.
Once you have a Techstreet account, you can login to view and download Australian Standards. Techstreet also includes a range of standards from other publishers, including ISO Standards, and these may be available on request.

Download standards
To download and open a standard on your computer you will need to have the following programs installed:
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
- FileOpen plug-in
Both Adobe Acrobat Reader and the FileOpen plugin are automatically installed on all SA Health computers. To verify that your computer has the plug-in installed:
- Open Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Navigate to Help > About Adobe > About Third-Party Plug-ins
- On the list of plug-ins, you should see ‘FileOpen Client’
Note that downloaded standards are locked to the computer on which they are first opened. If you wish to access the same standard on a different computer, you will need to download it again.
If you are using a non-SA Health computer and need to install the FileOpen plugin:
- Download FileOpen.
- The system requirements are:
- Windows: Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista, Windows7 - Adobe Reader 10.0 or higher
- Mac: Mac OS X, Mac OS 9.2 - Adobe Reader 10.0 or higher
- Linux: Adobe Reader 10.0 or higher
