Q. How can I search the library catalogue more effectively?
You can use the catalogue search box on the library homepage in different ways, according to your needs.
The tabs above the search box allow you to narrow your search by material type. For example, if you only want to search for eBooks, click the 'eBooks' tab:
The drop-down menu to the left of the search field allows you to choose which field to search on. For example, if you know the title of your desired item, select 'Title'. Here, we are searching for a journal by its title:
If you are looking for a specific article that you know the title of, select 'Articles' in the tabs above the search box and 'Title' from the dropdown menu. Then enter the title into the search field:
If you are looking for a specific article and you know its DOI (digital object identifier) or PubMed ID, you can also search by these in the 'DOI/PMID Lookup' field:
If you are searching for a topic, use the 'Keyword' index. Here, we are searching for articles on the topic of thunderstorm asthma:
