Q. I would like to borrow a print book that is currently on loan to someone else. How can I place a hold on it?
If you wish to borrow a print book that is currently on loan, you can place a hold on it. When the book is returned, you will be notified by email that it is available for you. You can have the book delivered to the SA Health Library site that is most convenient for you, or you can opt to have it posted to you.
To place a hold on a book
1. Locate your print book using a catalogue search. Books that are currently on loan will display a 'Checked out' notice along with the due date:

2. Click the book's title to view the catalogue record. Then click the 'Place Hold' button on the right of the screen:

3.You will be prompted to log in with your library username and password:

4. Next, you will be taken to the hold form. Please fill in at least fields A and B:

Leave Field A on 'Any Copy' if you are happy to receive the first available copy. Or you can use the dropdown to select a specific copy. Copies will display at the bottom of the form: please select one.
Use Field B to select your pickup location. If you wish to have your hold posted to you, please choose the menu option containing 'Deliver To', and use Field C to enter your delivery address. Library staff with liaise with you regarding the return of your loan by post.
