Q. How do I access UpToDate at my worksite and at home?

UpToDate is available onsite, offsite and via an app

View information on:

 

Onsite access

  1. Navigate to the library homepage
  2. Locate UpToDate in the the Popular resources box
  3. Click the UpToDate link
  4. You will be taken to the UpToDate homepage without needing to log in. The text SA Health Library Service will display in the top right corner of this screen, confirming that you are accessing the product from an SA Health computer: 

  5. You are now ready to use UpToDate. 

 

Offsite and app-based access

To access UpToDate from offsite or via the UpToDate app you need to register for an UpToDate account. When registering for an account you must use a computer connected to the SA Health network (either while you are onsite, or offsite using the VPN).

Registering for access

  1. On an SA Health computer, navigate to the library homepage.
  2. Click on the UpToDate icon in the Popular resources  box.
  3. In the top right corner of the UpToDate homepage you will see SA Health Library Network. Click on Register. 

    If SA Health Library Network does not appear then you are not being recognised as part of the SA Health Network. Please try a different computer.
  4. Complete the registration form, taking note of the email you have provided (you can use your SA Health email or a personal account), and your chosen username and password, then click Send Verification Code.

     

  5. A verification code will be sent to your nominated email address.
  6. Enter your verification code and click Submit Verification Code.
  7. You are now logged in with your personal account. Your name will appear in the top right corner of the screen to indicate this.

 

Offsite access

Once you have registered for an UpToDate account you can access UpToDate when offsite. To access:

  1. Go to www.uptodate.com or the library homepage (then click on UpToDate in the Popular resources box)
  2. Once at the UpToDate homepage, click the Log in button on the top right-hand corner of the page.
  3. Login with your UpToDate username and password.
  4. You will now be taken to the UpToDate homepage. Your name will appear in the top right corner of the screen, indicating that you have logged in with a personal UpToDate account. You can now access the full text of UpToDate.

 

Using the UpToDate app

Once you have registered for an UpToDate account you can use the UpToDate app:

  1. Visit your preferred App Store and search for UpToDate
    Note: your device must be registered to the Australian store.
  2. Once you have downloaded the app, login using your UpToDate username and password.

 

Maintaining your offsite and app-based access to UpToDate.

To maintain your offsite and app-based access you will need to login to your personal UpToDate account every 90 days on an SA Health computer (you should receive an email reminder about this).
